◁ GUNSLINGER BURRITOS

INSPIRED BY THE DARK TOWER

The Dark Tower was Stephen King’s epic fantasy. It follows Roland, a gunslinger, and his four companions as they quest to find the Dark Tower. The Dark Tower is basically the center-point of all dimensions, the glue that holds many universes together. During the ka-tets adventures, Roland takes whatever meat and non-poisonous plants they can find and wraps them in edible leaves. Eddie refers to these as “Gunslinger Burritos.” These aren’t supposed to be very tasty (they’re more for necessity than enjoyment), but we’ll try out one of these burritos on what might have been a particularly good day.

In “The Drawing of the Three,” Roland shoots a deer, which provided the ka-tet with some much-needed meat. Roland also had a salt lick, which he kept around for curing meat. Wild onions, garlic, and mushrooms are relatively easy to find and harvest when on a journey. Feel free to make any substitutions or additions you like, as Roland would use whatever the ka-tet had available at the time. Do not slice with your hands—he who slices with his hands has forgotten the face of his father…
